Selection Process
The UP Police Constable selection process is conducted in five main stages, and candidates must qualify each stage one by one to be finally selected.
First, candidates appear for the Written Examination, which is an offline OMR-based test consisting of 150 objective-type questions for 300 marks, to be completed in 2 hours. Each correct answer carries 2 marks, while 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. This stage is very important because the marks obtained in the written exam are used to prepare the final merit list. Only candidates who score above the category-wise cut-off are shortlisted for the next stage.
The second stage is the Physical Standard Test (PST), where the candidate’s height, chest (for males), and weight (for females) are measured according to prescribed standards. This stage is qualifying in nature, meaning no marks are awarded, but candidates who do not meet the physical standards are eliminated from the process.
Stage
---
Written Examination
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Document Verification
Medical Test
